TIFF2024#13 — A portrayal of middle-aged male crisis and friendship turning wild. The subject is a bit vague, but the script is sharp. The comedic creation by the director is unexpectedly effective. The whole film flows in a queer-coded atmosphere, viewing characters through a feminized lens. The protagonist and his friends constantly drop suggestive words, though never stated outright. When I watched it in the LDMFF theater, many viewers didn’t get the humor at all.

#SXSW2025 Festival Favorite – U.S. Premiere. A weirdly extended version of a Pee-Wee movie with a queer twist, only all the jokes are gay, and not everyone laughs.

#SXSW2025 Festival Favorite – U.S. Premiere. A weirdly extended version of a Pee-Wee movie with a queer twist, only all the jokes are gay, and not everyone laughs. The male lead’s entire family doesn’t understand him, and that’s where the feeling of awkwardness lies. Watching it alone makes you feel like you're watching your own life. There are a lot of films at SXSW about men who are "not okay," but this one feels more authentic and sincere. The loneliness portrayed here feels real. And I kept laughing at one line about “Paul Rudd’s smile.”
